AHIA Founders Award

The AHIA Founders Award

The Founders Award may be awarded periodically at the Annual Conference to any AHIA member(s) who have demonstrated a significant and continuing commitment in furthering the goals and objectives of AHIA and the healthcare internal auditing profession. The award is named in honor of the four founders of the Healthcare Internal Audit Group (HIAG — the original name of AHIA): James Bolinger, Margaret A. Richardson, William G. Sites, and William L. Werner.

Criteria:

  1. Each candidate for the Founders Award must have served AHIA in some capacity for a minimum of 6 years prior to nomination for the award.
  2. A candidate must have served as a member of AHIA Board, Board Committee, or Subcommittee of the Board for 2 – 4 years.
  3. A candidate must have had a role in a strategic initiative of AHIA within the past 4 years.
  4. If a candidate served in a Board position, the candidate cannot be nominated until two years following the end of their term. This does not apply to Board Committee or Subcommittee membership.

An individual may receive the award only once.
A two-thirds affirmative vote of Board Members is needed to name a recipient. There may be a single, multiple, or no recipients of the award in any given year.

These members represent the AHIA “Hall of Fame.”
